Nomad Shelter yurt central compression ring addition is a foot wider than the competitors on all sizes. The 12 ft. yurt and 16 ft. yurt diameters have a three layer central ring that is made of white spruce or Douglas fir. It is laminated and bolted through with countersunk carriage bolts. The edges are rounded and its finished with Danish Oil. The ends of the rafters on these sizes are dowel ends that insert directly into holes in the ring.
Nomad Shelter 20 ft. yurt, 24 ft. yurt, and 30 ft. yurt rings are 4 layers of 2 inch white spruce or Douglas fir. That is also laminated and drilled and fastened with countersunk carriage bolts. The edges are all routed and the ring is finished with Danish oil. The ring is notched so that the rafter ends inserts directly into ring with a wooden birds mouth join.
