Nomad Shelter offers an octagonal wood, Plexiglas (or Lexan) skylight. This design can have a stack opening through the center of it that accommodates a six inch metalabestos stack. We have found that the exit through the peak is the safest for extremely high wind areas. This way the draft is the best and there is no need for guy wires to hold the stack up on the outside.
If you don't want a central stove the stack can be angled on the inside or you can use another heat source such as a monitor or radiant floor heating and the octagonal skylight can be capped. The skylight can be ordered with an opening panel for venting. The wood that we use for this component is red cedar.
Nomad Shelter can order Tamlite dome skylights in thermal pane for all sizes of our yurts. The difference between our domes and the Tamlite dome skylights would be that we have larger central rings and the skylights are at least a foot wider on all sizes. Venting with the dome skylights is accomplished by tilting them up. They come with a crank opener.
