Nomad Shelter offers both polyvinyl windowpanes and the more rigid Lexan window panes as an extra option.
Polyvinyl yurt window description. Polyvinyl is like boat window material and will scratch and fog after about 2-3 years depending on care. They are inexpensive to replace however. Another benefit is that it is easy to bend back the polyvinyl to open the window from the inside.
Lexan yurt window description. Lexan panels are tougher and does not fog with UV wear. It is not as easy to open a rigid pane from the interior however. The Lexan panes have to be removed from outside the yurt. Currently offered as an optional extra they are also more expensive to replace.
Both styles of windows are attached to the yurt with a two inch edging of Velcro.
The bug screen is removable and attaches to the window with a one inch strip of Velcro. It is possible to have both bug screen and window attached at the same time. The windows have an attached storm flap that comes down over the window and Velcro-ed with a two inch strip of Velcro.
We include the insulation liner insert for the window in the standard price so that the windows can be closed with the same r-value as the rest of the wall.
