Wow, that was a busy production season! The Nomad Shelter tribe “got after it” this summer! We are so grateful for the work of our staff and the continued support of our customers. Working at the pace we did, making shelters for as many customers as we could, as fast as we could, inspired us to up our game. We initiated new production systems and manufacturing approaches, building yurts as efficiently as possible and with the highest quality.
The improved process started with moving two older shops off site. Our 10-year-old, 50’ diameter fabric shop is now a remote lodge/community center in the hills behind Homer. More on this as it develops—so exciting to witness the completion of this new facility! Our seven-year-old, 24’ wood shop is now home to a mushing couple, positioned off road with the dog lot nearby. Living lightly in the round under a beautiful, interior-winter sky...makes me miss those cold, clear Fairbanks winters. So cozy in a yurt with a big ol’ woodstove!
Big news: we consolidated our wood shop into our new, first in the world 60’ diameter Nomad Shelter Alaskan Yurt!! It has been a little chaotic to do all this while mid-production, but everyone has been cheerful and up for the challenge.

Over the coming winter, we will have the time for finishing details and new tooling.
We have stopped taking production orders for the winter, to focus on building more efficient infrastructure. Next year’s spring run will begin Feb 15, 2026. We are excited to step into our new, circular woodshop, all rigged, jigged and stocked for manufacturing five components in one space!
A 25% deposit made now secures your place on the schedule for spring shipping. We are offering an October order discount for customers who firm up their plans before the end of this month - choose your ship dates! February and most of March are already filled, but there are delivery slots left in April and May now. Lock in your plans now for savings!
Unlike most companies, Nomad Shelter did not raise our yurt prices this year. We will, however, be reviewing our web site options this winter, and will post a revised pricing and order page in January 2026. Play it smart and get your yurt scheduled now with current prices!
As fall progresses into the quiet time of year, we are all enjoying the longer evenings with time for crackling fires in the stove, spicy teas brewing, and the peace and inspiration of the Alaskan winter. Again, so much gratitude for our customers and staff. It truly takes a team to make an Alaskan Yurt!

A reminder that we still have a few more Lease-to-Own 16’ yurts available for Alaskan
customers. These yurts include full set-up and full floor build options. We offer a seven-year lease with a low deposit managed in-house. With a deposit today, choose your date for us to set up your yurt when the sun comes back in the spring.
We also have two more 16’ yurts in Kachemak Bay State Park, ready for pick up this week or next. These yurts are under full warranty, cleaned and refurbished, and selling now for $3,000 off the full retail price.
Check out these options on our site or call Alex in sales for more info: 907-299-9664
We hope everyone has a wonderful fall time, this season of giving thanks!
With love,
Jess Tenhoff and the Nomad Shelter team
